Charity Shops: Chandlers Ford, Romsey, Totton & WoolstonCome and join our friendly team of volunteers that help the managers run the Charity Shops. We need customer service personnel, till operators, steamers, sorters, book enthusiasts, merchandisers, cleaners and anybody that can muck in to make the shops run smoothly. More information is available on our Charity Shops page. Click here!
Information Trolley at Southampton General HospitalCarers Together runs an information trolley at Southampton General Hospital three days a week, between 2.00pm and 6.00pm but we would like to extend these hours. We have found this a great way to reach new carers and would welcome volunteers willing to chat to people visiting relatives at the hospital, who may not be aware of the support available to them.
Volunteer Advocates / Peer AdvocatesAs a carer yourself, you may know how much it helps to have someone with you for moral support at meetings with health and social care professionals. If you would like to support other carers in this way, please contact us. We will provide training and support for volunteers in this role.
CALLine VolunteersCarers Together runs a FREEPHONE telephone listening line called Carers Active Listening Line. This is for carers, former carers or older people to ring for support, a listening ear, a chat or to let off steam. We welcome volunteers who are willing to be available either one evening a week, between 4.30pm-8.00pm, or a weekend day, between 10.00am-4.00pm. This is done from your home as the line is diverted to your phone (your home number or mobile number will not be made public). As some calls can be from people in distress, this role requires some previous relevant experience and a good understanding or confidentiality. All volunteers undertaking this role are provided with training and support. Please contact us if you are interested in taking on this role.
