Charity Shops: Chandlers Ford, Romsey, Totton & Woolston
Come and join our friendly team of volunteers that help the managers run the Charity Shops. We need customer service personnel, till operators, steamers, sorters, book enthusiasts, merchandisers, cleaners and anybody that can muck in to make the shops run smoothly. More information is available on our Charity Shops page. Click here!
Information Trolley at Southampton General Hospital
Carers Together runs an information trolley at Southampton General Hospital three days a week, between 2.00pm and 6.00pm but we would like to extend these hours. We have found this a great way to reach new carers and would welcome volunteers willing to chat to people visiting relatives at the hospital, who may not be aware of the support available to them.
Volunteer Advocates / Peer Advocates
As a carer yourself, you may know how much it helps to have someone with you for moral support at meetings with health and social care professionals. If you would like to support other carers in this way, please contact us. We will provide training and support for volunteers in this role.
Carers Together runs a FREEPHONE telephone listening line called Carers Active Listening Line. This is for carers, former carers or older people to ring for support, a listening ear, a chat or to let off steam. We welcome volunteers who are willing to be available either one evening a week, between 4.30pm-8.00pm, or a weekend day, between 10.00am-4.00pm. This is done from your home as the line is diverted to your phone (your home number or mobile number will not be made public). As some calls can be from people in distress, this role requires some previous relevant experience and a good understanding or confidentiality. All volunteers undertaking this role are provided with training and support. Please contact us if you are interested in taking on this role.
Computer Cafe: Computer and Tablet/Smartphone help
If you are good with computers and could help people get started using a laptop/computer, using or customizing their smart phones or tablets, we would welcome you to join us at our Computer Cafe in Romsey. More information is available on our Computer Cafe page. Click here!
We run monthly community cafes - along with other local organisations and would welcome volunteers to help serve refreshments, welcome and chat to people that come along and possibly pick up people from the local community who may have mobility problems (expenses paid). More information is available on our Community Cafes page. Click here!
We run regular groups for carers in various parts of Hampshire. We particularly welcome carers or former carers who would like to come along and befriend other carers, make a cup of tea, have a chat and share your experience or even run an activity or organise a trip. More information is available on our Carers Cafe page. Click here!
We have a small all-volunteer fundraising team based at our Romsey office. If you have experience of fundraising or a positive attitude towards fundraising and could help organise a fundraising event, please let us know. We will do all we can to support you with ideas and literature or help make your fundraising idea a reality. Please contact us if you have any ideas or would like to join our team or fundraisers.
Carers Together is run by a board of Trustees (all volunteers) and we would welcome enquiries from people interested in joining us and becoming a trustee. More information about being a Trustee is available on our Who We Are page. Click here!
