New Forest Carers Meetings

News - Spring 2007

Well now that all the rush of Christmas is over I can settle down to making plans for 2007. After having all those lovely outings last year I am looking at how we can have some more similar events this year. So far no extra money has been forthcoming but I have some events planned anyway! So please make some entries in your diaries.

10 June - to start Carers Week events a special service at St Michael and All Angels Church in Lyndhurst at 10.30am with a theme of Caring and Carers.

14 June in Carers Week - another Exbury trip
Meet 1.30pm at entrance
Cost £6 to include entrance and a ride on the Exbury Train
Please let Vicky know if you are coming by 12th June and it would help if you could have the correct money for entrance when you arrive.

Sunday 17th June - a special service for Carers Week in Ringwood Parish Church at 10.30am.
I have arranged a service at each end of the forest as both these churches and the Churches Together in each area are wonderful at supporting carers in the cafés throughout the year.

Saturday 30th June - New Forest Walk and Picnic
Meet at Blackwater Car Park (off the Ornamental Drive just before Rhinefield House coming from A35)
Easy 2.5 miles Wheelchair/Buggy friendly walk will leave Car Park at 11am
Picnic (please bring your own) any time but all together after the first walk. Picnic area has tables and toilets
Don’t worry if you can’t be there for 11am, a second walk will go at 2.15pm
Dogs welcome on leads
The walks have experienced leaders
You don’t have to let Vicky know if you are coming although it would be nice to have an idea of numbers.
There is no charge for this event

02 August - Trip to Watercress Line organised by the Alzheimers Society limited to current carers and their dependants - details later.

08 September - Relaxation Day in Trinity Centre Ringwood.

Note: Any Carers, Dependants and friends from any area are welcome at the Exbury Gardens Outing or the New Forest Walk.

That should keep me busy for the moment! If we manage to get some more funding a trip to Wilton out of town shopping and Carpet factory and another trip to Portsmouth are planned if you have any other ideas of places that you think suitable do let me know.

The Carers Forum is working well now and as well as trying to procure funds for nice things it is also raising the profile of carers with the professional bodies PCT etc.

All the Carers Cafés are still well attended and we now have a new one in Alderholt near Fordingbridge on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 10.30am.

Don’t forget to drop in and see me on the first Monday of the month in New Milton, otherwise I hope to see you at one of the cafés - check the dates and venues from the link above.
