CARERS TOGETHER

Carers emergency arrangements ©

Are you the relative, friend or neighbour of someone who is old or frail, mentally ill, physically disabled, has learning difficulties or is ill?   ?         Do you worry about what would happen to them if you had an accident, or your car broke down, or you were suddenly taken ill?

The Carers Emergency Card

Why the need for an emergency card?

 Emergency Arrangements

Arrange for one or two contacts you can trust, and who agree to deal with your circumstances and who know how to proceed should the need arise.

If you do not have family or friends, it may be possible to arrange for a member of your local support group or carers forum to be your link. Why not contact them to see if someone can help.

In addition to a card you might consider carrying a mobile phone or pager.

Whatever you do, do something. It will give you a measure of peace and ensure there is always someone who can be contacted in an emergency.

A SAMPLE CARD
You do not need to obtain a particular card. Cut a piece of card the same size as a credit card and keep the text simple.

WARNING !!!!
Do NOT include ANY surnames or addresses on your contact card.
There are concerns that in carrying a means of identity, it is taking the risk that should the carer collapse, or have an accident, or pocket is picked, or handbag stolen, an unscrupulous person could use the information and house keys to take advantage of the carer's absence.
