CAPE - Carers Action Planning for Emergencies

Carers Together is offering a new service from May 2008. This new service offers planning and care services for carers in the event of emergencies and is called CAPE (Carers Action Planning for Emergencies). Carers Together has a team of staff who will meet with individual carers at a venue to suit them and look at what might need to happen if they have an emergency situation and are not able to undertake their caring role at short notice. The service may also be able to support the provision of emergency replacement care in the short term*.

This service is being tried out as a pilot for 12 months to establish the detail of local need and use.

For further information about the service please contact Carers Together on 01794 519495.

*The short term care service (up to 48 hours) will not be charged for as it is supported by a government grant. This grant is part of the 'New Deal for carers' announced by the government in February last year. It signalled improvements for carers in respite care, information and helpline services and started the review of the National Carers Strategy.
