Carers Assessments Carers Assessments are a way to access support for you as a carer. Your needs are assessed seperately from those of the person you care for.Anyone who provides or intends to provide a substantial amount of care on a regular basis can have a carer’s assessment - BY LAW. Caring can have quite an impact on your life - such as your health, your work, your relationships with family and friends - and what caring prevents you from doing e.g. working or following hobbies. You can have a carer’s assessment if you: live with the person you are looking after live away from the person you are looking after care for someone full time care for someone as well as working full or part time. How do I get a Carers Assessment? Carers’ assessments are the responsibility of Hampshire Adult Services (or Childrens Services if you care for a disabled child). You can have a carer’s assessment even if the perso you care for doesn't want an assessment of their needs. The best way to request a carer’s assessment is to write to or email Adult or Childrens Services. Factsheets: These Fact Sheets do not have all the answers, but do help to plan what is needed.
